The Red Sox have signed former Yankee pitcher Alfredo Aceves to a Major League deal this afternoon. The contract has a $650,000 base with appearance-based incentive escalators. How will Carl Crawford fair moving to traditionally hitter-friendly Fenway Park? He’ll be good — no doubt, he always has been. But don’t expect the type of statistical jump that we might with someone like Adrian Gonzalez. Crawford’s spray charts aren’t nearly as favorable.

I don’t see how Kalish gets more than 300 at bats and unless the J.D. Drew hammy injury is an early long term DL plant — don’t put it past Theo, he’s “manufactured” injury severity for players to keep roster flexibility before — I think he’ll start the year in the AAA with Darnell McDonald logging the #5 OF spot in Boston.
